Reference Desk -- Our Reference Desk and Branch Staff are always on-hand, ready to answer your questions and accept research requests during our regular hours of operation. If you can't make it to the Library in person, there are several other ways to contact the Reference Desk:

PHONE -- Call the MCPL Reference Desk in Wausau at (715) 261-7230 and talk to a Reference Librarian for quick answers and research assistance. You may also call your local MCPL Branch Location via our Hours / Locations page.

EMAIL -- Use the "CLICK HERE" form above to e-mail your questions to the MCPL Reference Librarians. Please provide as much information as possible. We will respond to your question within 24 hours. This service is designed to answer brief, factual questions or provide suggestions to sources where you might find the answer.

ONLINE CHAT (available during our regular hours of operation) -- Use the "Live Chat" window to the left to communicate "live" with an MCPL Reference staff person at Wausau Headquarters. Response times vary, so please allow up to several minutes for a reply. If necessary, leave contact information, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

ASK ? AWAY -- 24/7 ONLINE CHAT -- Research & reference services available at any time of the day or night! Enter your question, click on "Connect," and a librarian will help answer your question. Please note that "Ask?Away" is a third-party service. These librarians are not MCPL staff.

Our research and reference services are entirely free! However, we are obligated to recoup material and transmission costs for printing and faxing. Printed pages are 10¢ each. For reference requests that require us to send information by mail, there is a fee of 10¢ per page, plus $1 for postage & processing. To have information sent via fax, there is a $5 out-of-county and a $10 out-of-state surcharge.

Out-of-state inquiries are strongly encouraged to contact us directly before sending payment and research requests. Discretionary limitations may apply.
