Outreach Services
For Marathon County residents unable to visit the Library due to age, illness, accident, or disability, our Outreach Program offers a way to request and receive library materials by mail or special delivery. (Note: This program was previously know as "Homebound Services.")
This service is free of charge, but a valid MCPL Library Card is required. Once enrolled, library volunteers will select materials for you based on your preferences and requests, forwarding these items to your residence on a regular schedule. All items are checked out to you for five weeks at a time, after which you may return these via mail or volunteer courier.
Items available:
- Art prints
- Magazines
- Magnifiers
- Large print books
- Low-vision games
- Closed-captioned movies
- DVD movies & TV series
- Music CDs
- Audiobooks on CD
- "Described Videos" for low vision

Services Available:
- General Information
- Interlibrary Loan
- Reference Question Service
- Telephone Directory Service
We are also the local contact for the Regional Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. |
You do not need a statement from your doctor to enroll in the Outreach Program; you must simply meet the aforementioned criteria and be unable to get library materials in any other way. You may even enroll on a temporary basis if you have a medical condition that has left you homebound in the short-term. You may also refer a friend or family member.
