Need help with your History Day project?
Our friendly staff are happy to help during our regular hours of operation. If you can't make it to the Library in person, call the Reference Desk in Wausau at (715) 261-7230. You can also email us at ref@mcpl.us or use the "Ask a Librarian" window to the left to communicate "live" with an MCPL Reference staff person at Wausau Headquarters
 
When you call, visit, email or chat, let us know you are working on a History Day project. We will be attending the DCE Junior High History Day Contest and the DCE Senior High History Day Fair, as guest judges. Special consideration will be given to students who use the Marathon County Public Library in their research efforts.

Library Catalog (V-Cat) -- Use this catalog to browse the collections of all MCPL Locations, as well as those of other libraries in the Wisconsin Valley Library Service area. Requests for items from libraries in this catalog are not considered "interlibrary loans" (see below).

Interlibrary Loan (OCLC) -- Use this catalog to browse for and request materials that are not available using the Library Catalog (V-Cat) link above. This catalog searches libraries all throughout Wisconsin. Requests via interlibrary loan are limited to 10 per person per month.
BadgerLinkBadgerLink -- Access to various databases, courtesy of the state of Wisconsin. (For access from outside the library, click here, select your library, and enter your library card number.)
Central Wisconsin Digital ProjectCentral Wisconsin Digital Project (CWDP) -- The CWDP is a consortium of libraries, historical societies, genealogical societies and museums committed to preserving the history of Marathon and Lincoln Co. by the digitization of original sources and artifacts, and publishing them online.
Newspaper ArchiveNewspaper Archive -- Contains millions of searchable newspaper pages, dating as far back as the 1700s, presented in a PDF format that preserves the original context and format of content.
SoundzAboundSoundzAbound -- A large and current collection of royalty-free music and sound effects for use by students and educators, brought to you by BadgerLink. Ensures copyright compliance without the hassle of verifying licensing or paying for access.
Student Research CenterStudent Research Center -- An easy resource for students to search by keyword or by topic to find useful search results. Results can be easily sorted by source type—magazines, reference books, photos, flags, etc.
Wisconsin Digital CollectionsWisconsin Digital Collections - Brings together, in digital form, two categories of primary and secondary materials: writings about the State of Wisconsin and unique or valuable materials that relate to its history and ongoing development.
Wisconsin Heritage OnlineWisconsin Heritage Online -- An expanding digital collection, featuring documentary sources and material culture from libraries, archives, and museums throughout Wisconsin.
