TeenZone has moved!

September 12, 2007

Check out our Teen Zone. It has moved to the second floor.  There are still many great updates to come - but this is the first part of the transition. There is more space to spread out, open shelving, and lots of sunlight. What are you waiting for? Come and hang out! It is a great place to do homework, read, or just relax. And don't forget, we're wireless, so you can bring your portable devices with you!

Amazon.com Wish List

May 14, 2007

Check out our  Amazon.com Wish List.  If you have been wanting to make a donation to Marathon County Public Library, but  thought "I wonder what they  need"  - now you know!  The books we have selected are titles that we would like to add to our collection.  The list will be updated at least once a month with new titles. When you purchase the title - it will be shipped directly to us!  If you would like the book to be a memorial purchase, you can specify this in the "notes" section of the order.  And no worries about buying something someone else purchased... each time an item is bought, it is automatically taken off our list! Every donation helps!

MEEBO

May 11, 2007

We are now able to answer your questions online, in live chat! Check out the cool new feature, located on our Ask a Librarian page. Simply click on "Services" and then "Ask A Librarian" - and there you will find our Meebo widget. All you have to do is type a question into the screen, and a staff member will respond to you. This service is available whenever we are open - our widget will note "librarian online" when we are here! Now there are more ways to ask questions!

Did you know that the library is a great place to do work on your family tree? The library offers TWO online databases that can help you get started on that family tree project, or help you fill in the blanks on a tree you've already created! Ancestry is only available for use in the library. Heritage Quest, on the other hand, is available for home use. All you'll need is your library card, and you're on your way! Both sites are easy to navigate, and provide access to thousands of death, birth, census, and marriage records. Try it out for yourself! It is fun, easy, and FREE! Both sites are great for beginning or professional genealogists!
