Find History Day help at MCPL

Need help finding resources for your National History Day project? 

The Marathon County Public Library Reference Desk staff at MCPL Wausau are always ready to help you with your research. Contact the MCPL Wausau Reference Desk at 715-261-7230 to make an appointment with one of our reference desk staff for personalized help and recommended resources for your topic. Appointments are recommended, but not necessary.

If you can't make it to the library, you may email, chat with us online or take a look at some of our recommended online resources.

How to access MCPL’s Online Resources for your research:

  1. Go to the Marathon County Public Library Website:
  2. Find “Resources “ in the menu bar across the top of the page.
  3. On the drop-down menu, click on Online Resources. Here you will see a listing of all of MCPL’s online resource pages, with links.
  4. Choose the database you wish to use. From home you will need to provide your library card number and pin number. For history research, try the following:

Access Newspaper Archive
Millions of searchable newspaper pages, dating as far back as the 1700s, presented in a PDF format that preserves the original context and format of content.
 Multiple databases of magazines, journals, newspapers, images and reference resources.
Provides you with a connection for tracing family history and American culture. Images of original documents are provided.
