With spring nearly here, the Marathon County Public Library is getting ready to celebrate National Library Week (NLW)! This year’s NLW will be held April 9-15 and all nine MCPL locations (as well as thousands of libraries across the country) will be participating with a variety of events for all ages!
To go along with this year’s theme of “Libraries Transform,” kids can create traditional bookmarks all week long at our Wausau Headquarters and Rothschild, Spencer, and Stratford Branches. Our Mosinee Branch will also “Drop Everything and Read” on April 12 with a special event focused crafts related to characters created by children’s author Beverly Cleary, like Ramona Quimby!
Adults can look forward to plenty of special events too, such as making their own watercolor bookmarks using different art techniques at MCPL Wausau on April 12. Adults will also have the chance to become acquainted with new gadgets on the market during our New Technology & Advanced Equipment Petting Zoo at our Wausau Headquarters on April 13, which will introduce folks to new gadgets on the market.
Each day during NLW, five lucky patrons will receive a special coupon to be used on a purchase at the next Friends of MCPL Book Sale in May. These coupons will be randomly placed in items waiting to be picked up on the Holds shelf at our Wausau Headquarters, so stop in to check out your items and see if you’re one of the lucky winners!
