Marathon County Public Library is extending our observance of National Library Week (April 10-16) throughout the month of April by highlighting our employees through a series of staff profiles! Now through April 30, learn a little bit about the personnel at our nine MCPL locations, and feel free to give them a friendly "hello" next time you see them!
Name: Lisa H.
Job title: Branch Coordinator
MCPL Location: Marathon City
Time Worked at MCPL: 3 years
What are some of your main job responsibilities?
I do event planning, do story time and all of the daily administration of running the branch.
What book(s) are you currently reading?
I am currently reading the books Calling Me Home by Julie Kibler and Inside the O’Briens by Lisa Genova.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is making connections with patrons of all ages. Having a patron say “You’re awesome” and tell her friend “I love this library. They can find me anything” is really gratifying. I also enjoy working with children. I feel the children that come to our library find it to be a safe and inviting place. That is very important to me.
What motto or philosophy do you live by?
The motto I live by is “just breathe.” I’ve learned that when I’m feeling overwhelmed, I need to step back and take a deep breath. The problem may not go away, but I know I can face it with a clearer head.
What food item(s) you absolutely cannot resist?
Chips and Salsa.
How do you think MCPL will continue to transform in the future?
MCPL will continue to transform and evolve in the future by providing appropriate programming and services for our patrons. MCPL is committed to meeting the changing needs of our patrons.
