Relive the Central Wisconsin Book Festival!

some of the 2018 CWBF presenters

November 7, 2018

In late September, the Marathon County Public Library - along with several community partners, including UW-Stevens Point at Wausau's Lecture & Fine Arts Series, Janke Book Store, Barnes & Noble , and more - offered the second annual Central Wisconsin Book Festival. The festival consisted of nearly 20 events held at several locations in and around Wausau, including the Center for the Visual Arts, Janke Book Store, Barnes & Noble in Rib Mountain and MCPL's Wausau Headquarters, featuring a variety of topics including publishing your own books and starting a blog to a comics workshop and an art and poetry exhibition.

One of the larger events held at the UWSP at Wausau campus was "Fact and Fiction and 'Grace': A Live Storytelling Event," featuring local community members telling stories (both true and fictional) about "grace" - either the concept or about a person named Grace. Radio producer and author Charles Monroe-Kane returned again as emcee this year, and the event featured a lot of great tales and audience participation. Anyone who may have missed this event can watch a recording of it below.

One of our closing events featuring a reading and talk with Dan Kaufman, author of the book The Fall of Wisconsin. Also held on the UWSP at Wausau campus, Kaufman read from his book and talked about the current state of politics in the Badger state. Those who were unable to attend this event can also watch a recording of it below, too!

Support for the 2018 Central Wisconsin Book Festival (CWBF) was provided through the Community Arts Grant Program of the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin, with funds provided by the Wisconsin Arts Board, a state agency, the Community Foundation, and the B.A. & Esther Greenheck Foundation. Support is also provided by the Marathon County Public Library Foundation, the Friends of the Marathon County Public Library, Wisconsin Public Radio, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Wausau Lecture & Fine Arts series, Center for the Visual Arts, the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets, Barnes & Noble and Janke Book Store.

The festival will return for a third year in fall 2019! For exact dates and a list of speakers and events, keep an eye on!
