MCPL’s Spanish Bilingual Story Time will now be held Mondays at 9:30 a.m. instead of Wednesdays at 10 a.m., effective Monday, September 12, 2016!
With English and Spanish as the two most-used languages in the United States, bilingualism will only become more important as the children of today get older. Young children’s minds are like sponges; they absorb more information in the first three years of life than any other time! By exposing children to both English and Spanish early on, they reap many benefits besides the ability to speak and understand both languages. Bilingualism helps children learn new words more easily, improves their listening skills and gives them the greater ability to put words into categories. Knowing two languages also helps with multitasking and bilingualism improves cognitive skills overall.
All ages are welcome to come participate in books, songs, rhymes and folklore in English and Spanish. We encourage those with no prior knowledge of the Spanish language, native Spanish speakers and anyone in between to join us for a truly bilingual experience!
