How can I pay my library fines?

FAQ: How can I pay my library fines?

Answer:

Library fines are charged for items that became overdue, lost or damaged while checked out on your library account.

Options to pay these fines include:

  • Pay online using your credit card: 

  • Pay in person by cash or check at any MCPL location.

  • Pay by mail by sending a check or money order to: MCPL, 300 N. First St., Wausau, WI 54403. Please include a note with your library card number.


Online fine payment FAQs:

  • What credit cards do you accept? Currently the library accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover — including debit cards that function as credit cards.

  • Will I be charged a transaction or service fee? No.

  • Is there a minimum required to pay online? Yes, there is a $3 minimum.

  • Can I choose to pay only part of a bill? If you have fines for multiple items, you can choose which items' fines you want to pay.

  • Is the transaction secure? Yes, payments are processed using a secure TLS 1.2 encrypted HTTPS website.

  • Will I receive a receipt for online payments? Yes, a receipt will be emailed to you from service@paypal.com.

  • Is my credit card charged immediately? Yes.

  • Are fines on my account cleared immediately? Yes, when payment is accepted, your library account will be updated; however, you may not see the update until you log out and then log back into your online account. Also, if your library account was referred to a collection agency, the block on your account may not be cleared until the next business day.

  • How will the charge be listed on my credit card statement? The charge will be listed as from “PAYPAL *WVLS VCAT" or "PAYPAL *WVLS VCAT LIBRARY.”

  • What if I pay online for a lost item, and then I find the item? Please contact us.
