FAQ: When will the decision to join SCLS become final?
The Extension, Education and Economic Development Committee (EEEDC) of the Marathon County Board of Supervisors will discuss MCPL’s possible transition to SCLS, and offer the opportunity for public comment, at one of its upcoming meetings.
In February 2021, the Library Board asked the EEEDC to postpone this discussion pending the clarification of details related to the transition.
On January 25, 2021, the Library Board voted to approve a motion for the Marathon County Public Library (MCPL) to join the South Central Library System (SCLS). The 4-3 vote was preceded by a year-long analysis by the Library System Task Force, which was formed in January 2020 to thoroughly examine the cost and benefits of joining SCLS.
