Date of Last Revision: 7-2013
Marathon County Public Library (MCPL) offers a Wii gaming system in the Tween
Scene in the children's area at the Wausau Headquarters location to make the library
more enticing to children and engage them in other learning experiences through
games.
Anyone using the Wii gaming system must have a MCPL library card in
good standing with fines less than $10.00.
Patrons must sign-up to use the Wii console at the MCPL children's desk.
Any controllers or equipment that is needed to play will be borrowed to the
patron. Patrons who sign-up to play must give their library card to the
children's desk staff while using the Wii. Children's staff will keep cards in
the cash box. Once finished playing, patrons must return the Wii
equipment to the children's desk and may pick up their library card.
The patron who checks out the Wii equipment will be held responsible for
any replacement costs or damages made, up to the maximum cost of
replacement.
Children 8 years old and older may use the Wii gaming station
independently. Children younger than 8 years old must play with a
parent/guardian.
MCPL Wii equipment checkout period will be limited to ½ hour per day. If
no one is waiting to use the Wii, the equipment may be renewed for an
additional ½ hour. Players must be willing to end their time if another
player signs up. Players must also end their play time immediately at the
request of MCPL staff.
Special library times, events and programs may result in extended
checkout periods or unavailability of the Wii gaming system.
MCPL Wii equipment must be returned to the desk where it was checked
out at least 15 minutes prior to the library closing. Any damages made to
the Wii equipment or failure to return the Wii equipment will result in the
patron being charged the full replacement cost.
ITEM NUMBER: 10.15 b
MCPL Wii equipment may not be removed from the library building or
moved to another area of the library. For safekeeping, the Wii equipment
may be left with a staff person at the MCPL children's desk for a brief
period of time.
When using the MCPL Wii, gamers must wear the wrist leash; treat the
Wii equipment gently; and keep volume and noise level low. Children who
do not follow the above rules will be asked by staff to stop for the day.
Patrons who repeatedly abuse the Wii equipment will have their gaming
privileges revoked.
