Staff Review: "China Rich Girlfriend"
Set two years after the conclusion of Crazy Rich Asians¸ Rachel Chu and her fiancée, Nick Young, are still happily living in New York City. On the eve of their wedding, the couple receives a visit from Nick’s mother, Eleanor, whom he hasn’t spoken to in years (and who crashes the wedding rehearsal and amazingly dramatic fashion). Eleanor tells Rachel that she has located her long-lost birth father, who is the CEO of a mega-corporation in Shanghai.
Rachel and Nick travel to Shanghai, where they meet Rachel’s half-brother, Carlton, and his social media star girlfriend, Collette. The foursome spend much of the book together, exploring all of the extravagance Shanghai and Hong Kong have to offer. Carlton and his family have secrets of their own, though, and just how they’ll affect Rachel is the real mystery.
I loved this book because it delivered exactly what I was yearning for – more of the characters I fell in love with in Crazy Rich Asians and more over-the-top wealth and opulence. Best of all, the storylines were not predictable at all, and thus I was pleasantly taken by surprise, chapter after chapter.check it out more reviews
