Staff Review: "Leave Me"
"Leave Me" is the debut adult novel by popular young adult author Gayle Forman. The story follows Maribeth, a woman who experiences a heart attack at a young age and how that event makes her evaluate her life and how she lives. In an instant she decides to leave her family to help herself heal. What happens after this decision, how Maribeth heals, and the repercussions of her actions makes up the meat of this book. Forman does a good job of getting a reader into the heads of her characters and this book is no exception. I would say this is an easy read, but doesn't mean that this is a simple story. I was interested and engaged throughout the book and could relate the the struggles of the main character in finding some balance in her life. I recommend this book for anyone looking for an interesting book about the life and struggles of being a mom, a woman, and a person in our world today.
