Staff Review: "Long Bright River" by Liz Moore

Born to drug-addicted parents, sisters Kacey and Mickey find themselves on very different paths in their adult lives. Mickey is a cop trying to help addicted women living on the streets, while Kacey is one of these women, willing to do anything for her next fix. This family drama traverses Kacey and Mickey's childhood, the bond they form being raised by their grandmother, and how they lost each other in their teenage and young adult years. In the present day, a string of murdered young addicts leads Mickey on a chase to make sure her sister does not end up murdered, if she isn't already.

This novel read like a psychologist thriller mixed with a police investigation-a fast-paced combination! This novel delves deeply into the American opioid epidemic and how it affects police work and familial relationships.
