Lost and Found Cat

Cover: 'Lost and Found Cat'

Staff Review: "Lost and Found Cat" by Doug Kuntz, Amy Shrodes, Sue Cornelison

This heartwarming and true story about the beloved cat of a refugee family is sure to tug on the heart strings of any reader.

Readers meet an Iraqi family who is forced to leave their home to the safety of another country. After a perilous journey through mountains, forests, and the Aegean Sea, the fluffy white cat called Kunkush is terrified at the chaotic landing in Greece and flees to the safety of the trees. When his heartbroken family fails to find him after several hours of searching, they are forced to continue on their journey without him. When a volunteer later finds Kunkush wondering around the streets, a journey to find his family turns into a worldwide effort.

Not only is this a powerful story about one refugee family's experience, it is a story about the powerful bond between animals and their family. I absolutely loved this picture book's depiction of this extraordinary true story, and especially enjoyed the pictures included in the back of the book!
