"Playing with Matches" by Hannah Orenstein

Cover: 'Playing with Matches'

With a recent degree in journalism, 22-year-old Sasha has no job prospects in New York City. After she sees the matchmaking company Bliss is hiring, she knows the unique backstory of how her parents met will make her a standout against the competition. After landing the job, Sasha delves into the world of Tinder, Plenty of Fish, and Bliss' large database of singles in the city. Sasha's boyfriend, Jonathan, doesn't mind her new ventures into the singles world, or so she thinks. Is the dating app world really all it's cracked out to be? Is Jonathan, or a boyfriend at all, really what Sasha needs in her life? This was an excellent, fun read that any young adult will be able to relate to. Anyone who enjoyed The Devil Wears Prada, Sex and the City, or Girls will find this novel entertaining and even a little enlightening.
