Staff Review: "She Persisted"
"Sometimes being a girl isn't easy. At some point, someone probably will tell you no, will tell you to be quiet and may even tell you your dreams are impossible. Don't listen to them. These thirteen American women certainly did not take no for an answer. They persisted." From Ruby Bridges to Sally Ride, and from Oprah Winfrey to Nellie Bly, come short, succinct stories of thirteen American women who kept going after others tried to stop them. Featured women include well-known names, such as Harriet Tubman, and others I had never heard of, such as Maria Tallchief and Clara Lemlich. This picture book was a great introduction to American women of all backgrounds who have made a positive difference in our country. This picture book is recommended to any preschool child or early elementary schooler, especially those interested in history and social justice. Parents should also find this book enjoyable and educational.check it out more reviews
