The Sun Down Motel

Cover: 'The Sun Down Motel'

Staff Review: "The Sun Down Motel" by Simone St. James

Are you a fan of mysteries that grab hold and won’t let go? Do ghosts and the paranormal intrigue you?

Carly Kirk has always been fascinated with the macabre and strange. The disappearance of her aunt before she was born has always been a sensitive subject in her family. In 1982 when her aunt Viv was 20 years old she disappeared without a trace while working the night shift at the Sun Down Motel. Carly, who is now 20 years old herself, embarks on a journey to find out the truth about what happened to her aunt 35 years ago.

Carly takes the same job her aunt Viv had, working the night shift behind the desk at the Sun Down Motel. Almost immediately Carly senses that something is off. Strange occurrences envelope Carly and she soon finds herself wrapped up in a chilling reality that she can’t comprehend.

What kept me captivated while devouring this book was the changing perspective of the two main characters. Each chapter alternates from Carly to Viv which made the book impossible for me to put down until I found out what exactly led to Viv’s disappearance. I would recommend this book for fans of mysteries, thrillers and the paranormal.
