Staff Review: "A Touch of Stardust"
Julie Crawford is fresh out of college and in a hurry to escape the pressures of life in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She dreams of becoming a screenwriter and decides to take her chances in Hollywood. She finds a job instead as an errand girl for one of the most notoriously temperamental producers in the city. As the studio begins filming what will become one of the most iconic films of all time, Julie is swept up in the magic of the process and her love of Gone with the Wind. Assigned to keep an eye on the mistress of Clark Gable, Julie enters the world of the stars in a way she never expected. Carole Lombard, a Midwestern girl herself, quickly befriends Julie and does her best to help her get ahead in the cutthroat world of Hollywood. Along the way, Julie must learn to make a go of it in a man's world and figure out what she is willing to fight for. This book swept me away into the fast moving world of 1938 Hollywood and the making of one of my favorite movies of all time. I couldn't put it down!
