FAQ: How will I be notified if I have overdue items or items being held?

When you sign up for a library card, you have the option to receive library notifications via email, phone (voice or text) or regular mail. 

Please note: Library notifications are sent as a courtesy. It is your responsibility to ensure your items are returned on time.

You may adjust your notification preferences at any time using the following information:
 

  • Email alerts include (1) "Overdue Notices" (sent after items are due), (2) "Pickup Notices" (sent when items you requested are available) and (3) "Pre-Overdue Notices" (sent 2-3 days before your items are due).

    • To sign up for email alerts, contact us or ask library staff at your next visit.
    • Email alerts will come from notices@mcpl.us.
    • To opt out of phone alerts, please contact us or ask library staff at your next visit.
       
  • Phone (voice) alerts are automated phone calls that include (1) "Overdue Notices" (sent after items are due) and (2) "Pickup Notices" (sent when items you requested are available).

    • To sign up for phone alerts, please contact us or ask library staff at your next visit.
    • Phone alerts will come from 715-301-0484.
    • To renew items or request information about your library account, call 715-301-0484 and follow the prompts.
    • To opt out of phone alerts, please contact us or ask library staff at your next visit.
    • Alternatively, you may call MCPL's automated renewal service at 715-261-7209 (24/7).
       
  • Text message (SMS) alerts include (1) "Overdue Notices" (sent after items are due), (2) "Pickup Notices" (sent when items you requested are available) and (3) "Pre-Overdue Notices " (sent 2-3 days before your items are due).

    • To sign up for text alerts, text SIGNUP to 1-844-201-0052 and follow the prompts.
    • Text alerts will come from 1-844-201-0052 or 715-301-0484. 
    • To get more information about your items or renew, follow the instructions provided in the text alerts.
    • For a complete list of options, text "HELP" to 1-844-201-0052.
    • To opt out of text alerts, text "STOP" to 1-844-201-0052.
    • Note: If you sign up for text alerts, you will not receive phone alerts unless the text messages are not delivered successfully.
