History Speaks: Wausau Winter Frolics!
The Wausau Winter Frolics was a defining annual event that jump started the development of Marathon County winter sports tourism and transformed the Wausau area into the "Winter Playground" of Wisconsin.
Partially a carnival that featured parades and a Frolic Queen, it was also a winter sports extravaganza featuring competitions for skiing, skating, hockey, curling, sled dog racing, and more.
MCHS Archivist Ben Clark will present this topic, which will be livestreamed on the Historical Society's Facebook page and YouTube channel. There will be opportunities for the audience to ask questions through the chat features. The presentation will be recorded for later viewing at those same two websites.
History Speaks on the Air presentations are free to attend, no registration required, and they are co-hosted by the Marathon County Public Library. The Historical Society is grateful to Janke Book Store for their sponsorship of the History Speaks series.
