Trail Tales Along Wausau's River Edge Parkway!
Take a scenic walk this summer along Wausau's riverfront, and keep children interested with fun stories along the way!
From mid-June to mid-July, kids and families will have the opportunity to walk the scenic River Edge Parkway in downtown Wausau and read the pages of two children's books posted along the way. The trail will run north-to-south from Kickbusch Plaza (which begins behind MCPL's Wausau Headquarters) to the River Life pedestrian bridge, near Wausau on Water (WOW) restaurant. Metered parking is available adjacent to Kickbusch Plaza between the hours 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Parking is free in the lot after 6 p.m. on week days and free on weekends. Free parking is also available at WOW.
Books that will be posted along the trail are "Hurry Up!" by Kate Dopirak, about a child learning to slow down and enjoy nature; and "Sing Some More!" by Deborah Diesen, about a trio of birds who sing, and sing, and, you guessed it, sing some more. Families can access both books any time, rain or shine!
Trail Tales is a collaboration between MCPL and the Marathon County Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department in an effort to promote literacy, the outdoors and being active. Please try to remain socially distant on the trail due to COVID-19. Get outside and enjoy some fun stories along the beautiful Wisconsin River.
