Spring Poetry Contest for Youth

Kids & Teens Drop-in

Young writers of Marathon County are invited to send us original, unpublished poems for our spring poetry contest, and winners in the two age groups will receive recognition and prizes!

We'll accept submissions from Jan. 1 through May 27, and the two age categories for entrants will be 9–12 (3rd-7th grade students). and 13–18 (8th to 12th grade students). There's no limit on the length, and each person can enter two poems. Entries can be sent by email (PDF format, please!) to poetry@mcpl.us or dropped off in person at any MCPL location. Click here to download the fillable entry form that must be included with entry. All poets must be residents of Marathon County.

Winners will be chosen by Wausau Poet Laureate Dawn Anderson. The top three in each age group will have their poems published in the MCPL newsletter and on the MCPL website. Also, the top two in the teen age group will receive a yearlong subscription to Poets & Writers magazine, and the top two entrants in the tween category will both receive a poetry anthology!

Call us at 715-261-7220 for more information.
