Newbery Medal Book Club: "From the Mixed up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler"

Adults

Who says children's literature is just for children? In addition to all the regular benefits of reading, kid lit can spark a sense of wonder, imagination and fun in adults, too!

The John Newbery Medal is awarded annually to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children. To recognize the Newbery's 100th anniversary, adults are invited each month to read selected award winners and meet at our Rothschild Branch to spend an hour or so discussing the books.

In September, it's Konigsburg's 1968 classic about 12-year-old Claudia. Having run away with her younger brother to live in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Claudia strives to keep things in order in their new home and to become a changed person and a heroine to herself.

Open to adults, no registration required. Call the Rothschild Branch at 715-359-6208 for more information.

Our upcoming Newbery book club chats include the following titles:

  • Newbery Medal Book Club: "From the Mixed up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler"
