A variety of helpful equipment, archives and services are available at your local Marathon County Public Library! Some resources are only available at certain MCPL locations, as noted below.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide provides free tax preparation in different ways—in-person, low-contact, or contact-free—depending on what service is available in your area.

IRS Free File lets you prepare and file your federal income tax online for free. File at an IRS partner site with the IRS Free File Program, or use Free File Fillable Forms.

Submit an online request or call 800-829-3676 to receive specific U.S. federal tax forms and publications by mail.

Federal Taxes: Withholding Estimator

The IRS encourages everyone to use the Tax Withholding Estimator to perform a quick “paycheck checkup.”  This is even more important following the recent changes to the tax law for 2018 and beyond. The estimator helps you identify your tax withholding to make sure you have the right amount of tax withheld from your paycheck at work.

The IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs offer free tax help for taxpayers who qualify.
